Simpson HGLTV hangers are designed for use with structural composite lumber header applications that require high loads. The top flange nails are sized and specifically located to prevent degradation of the header due to splitting of laminations. The Strong-Tie HGLTV414-2 top flange hanger features a Gray Paint finish for added corrosion resistance and requires the use of hot-dip galvanized fasteners which meet the specifications of ASTM A153
Installation:
- Use all specified fasteners. Verify that the header can take the required fasteners specified in the table.
- This series may be used for weld-on applications. Minimum required weld is a 1/4″ x 2 1/2″ fillet weld at each end of the top flange for HGLTV. Weld-on applications produce maximum loads listed.
- Web stiffeners are required with I-joists using this hanger style.
- HGLTV hangers may be installed on ledgers provided the ledgers are made of 4x solid sawn or 3 1/2″ SCL. Thinner lumber must be evaluated by the building Designer.
- HGLTV hangers should not be attached to nailers.
